A Review of Jacuzzi’s Clearlight Sanctuary Infrared Sauna

Hi guys, today I’m talking about one of the newest items we’ve incorporated into our health routine – the full spectrum infrared sauna by Jacuzzi!

Saunas have been around for centuries, with the oldest dating back to around the 1100s. These days they’re mostly found in health clubs and spas, but companies like Jacuzzi have made it possible for you to also enjoy them in the comfort of your own home!

After spending hours researching and comparing brands, we decided on Jacuzzi’s Clear Light Sanctuary model.

This is a full spectrum infrared sauna that features cleverly placed Low EMF True Wave™ Full Spectrum heaters in the front, on the back wall, side wall, under the bench, next to your calves, and in the floor. This placement helps to concentrate the heat evenly on your body, surrounding you with high quality infrared heat.

The size of this model is not overpowering, and it can still comfortably fit my husband and I. This model is meant for one person, but we do sit in it together (for reference I am 5’0” and my husband is 5”11”). We chose the classic cedar wood finish, which smells amazing when it heats up!

One of my favorite features is the ability to play music, audiobooks, etc. through the overhead speakers. There’s also a power source to use other devices (like an iPad or salt therapy device, which we purchased separately), as well as the ability to use essential oils for aromatherapy during your sessions.

The touch screen pad is also super convenient for controlling temperature, time, and lighting.

So What Exactly Is Infrared?

Infrared radiation is an invisible form of electromagnetic energy, and it’s wavelength is longer than that of visible light. Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4935255/

Infrared radiation is categorized according to wavelength:

Near infrared (wavelength of 0.8–1.5 µm)

  • Penetrates the deepest
  • This is the wavelength most often used in procedures to help speed healing and increase cellular repair, due to it’s ability to stimulate ATP production

Middle infrared (wavelength of 1.5–5.6 µm)

  • Helps to bring more oxygen to areas needing healing
  • Can increase heart rate and metabolism

Far infrared (wavelength of 5.6–1000 µm)

  • Close to the wavelength of heat given off by our bodies
  • Said to help increase energy in the body and help in removal of toxins through sweating, urine, and feces
  • Various studies have shown that far infrared has the ability to increase artery blood flow and peripheral blood circulation, improve endothelial cell function, alleviating fatigue and pain,  reduce blood pressure, and promote capillary dilatation Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4935255/

The Clear Light Sanctuary uses a combination of all three to provide the greatest benefits.

In addition to infrared heat, the sauna also surrounds you with medical grade chromotherapy lighting. You have the option to select an individual color or use the “auto” mode to have the unit cycle through the all of the colors.

Final Thoughts

After completing multiple sessions, I would say that the Jacuzzi line of saunas are well-built, comfortable, and effective. They’re a great option for personal sauna use, and I recommend browsing their website to learn more about the benefits of infrared and the technology that goes into all of their saunas.

A Guide To Skin Care and Anti-Aging: Key Products & Ingredients We Should All Be Using!

Skincare tips, Best Skincare Products, Skin Care Advice, Best Skin Care Ingredients, Skin Care Regimen

Skin health has been a huge interest of mine ever since I was 14. Since then, I have been passionate about understanding ingredients and learning what is good and bad for our skin and our bodies. In fact, this is a key interest that prompted me to pursue my degree in molecular biology and attend medical school!

While I am not officially a doctor yet, I have researched (and used) hundreds of skin products, and my degree in cell & molecular biology has provided me with a fairly in-depth understanding of molecular chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology. In this post, I am focusing on skin health and discussing ingredients that are beneficial for nearly every skin type. They are products I consistently use myself (for reference I have sensitive skin), and I really think they are worth investing in if you want to have healthy skin that ages gracefully and looks its best. What are antioxidants and why do we need them?

You’ve heard it before; “Make sure you’re getting those antioxidants!” But what exactly is an antioxidant, and why are they so important?

As a Cell & Molecular Biology major, I have to admit that I geek out a little when it comes to learning about the human body on a cellular level. I find it so fascinating, and I have decided to start sharing more posts and info about what I’ve learned through my studies. I hope you guys enjoy the topics, and if there are specific things that you’d like to learn more about feel free to reach out and let me know!

For today’s post, I’m discussing antioxidants and explaining why we need these little free radical scavengers in our bodies! 🙂 Continue reading “Antioxidants: What They Are And Why We Need Them!”

lifestyle blog, best bloggers, cute blogs, style blogs

We’ve all heard the classic rule — “Drink 8 glasses of water per day” — But is that a one size fits all recommendation?  The short answer is no.  Everyone’s body is different, and depending on our diet and activity level, we all need different amounts of water to keep our body functioning at it’s best.

So how much water do you really need?

Think about how much water we use and lose in one day through breathing, perspiration, urination, and bowel movements.  Because we use and lose all of this water during the day, it’s important to replenish our body’s water supply.  The Institute of Medicine suggests that men need about 13 cups (3 liters) of water a day, while women need about 9 cups (2.2 liters) of water a day.

So how can you know if you’re getting enough water?  Below are 5 signs that your body may be craving more. Continue reading “Are You Drinking Enough Water? How Much You Need & How To Know if You Need More”

How To Read and Understand Nutrition Fact Labels

understanding nutrition facts, how to understand nutrition fact labels

lifestyleblog

I’ve always been conscious about what I eat, but about ten years ago I really started to focus on understanding nutrition.  Over the years, I’ve noticed that many people eat foods without knowing much about ingredients or where they come from.  For instance, do you really know what the difference is between saturated fat and unsaturated fat?  What does trans fat mean and why are we told not to eat it? Well kudos to you if you are reading this, because that means that you’re interested in understanding food labels more clearly!  In an effort to make it a bit easier and understandable, I’ve compiled some information that I hope you will find helpful.

Below I discuss how to read and understand the most obvious wording on the label – the “Nutrition Facts” section.  I also focus on seven categories that are very important to understand when reading a food label; sugar, carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol, sodium, protein, and fiber. More and more people are making the switch to vegetarianism these days, and if you are like me, you are constantly searching out quick and easy ways to get a protein rich meal. Protein has so many uses in our bodies, as it is an important building block for bones,  muscles, tissues, and healing abilities. It is really an essential component for many biological processes, so vegetarian or not, it is important for us to ensure that we are giving our bodies what it needs to function efficiently!

A few years ago I was in the mood for something sweet after my workout, so instead of my go-to protein smoothie, I decided to try and make some healthy pancakes. Luckily it was a success, and I make them all of the time now! Continue reading “Quick, Easy, Delicious (and Healthy!) Protein Pancakes”

5 Essential Foods That You Probably Aren’t Eating Enough Of!

essential foods, foods to eat more, how to get more nutrients

Consistently eating healthy is sometimes a hard thing to accomplish, but it’s really about finding the right balance for your body.

I have always been mindful of what I put into my body, but a couple of years ago I became a little too obsessed I would say. I already avoided processed foods, but I decided to take it one step further and cut out all meat, dairy, gluten, and sugar from my diet. Now, I am not sure how many of you have done this (or maybe currently are) but you will realize that literally everything has at least one of those items in it! After months of limiting these foods, I came to realize that moderation is really the key to leading a healthy lifestyle while also being able to indulge from time to time. As my studies in molecular biology have taught me, there are so many things that can affect our cells, and the key is to always make sure that we provide our bodies with the proper nutrients that it needs to function at it’s best.

So on that note, I decided to share 5 foods that I believe we should all be eating frequently! Of course, if you have allergies or dietary issues with these foods you will have to look to other options.  Continue reading “5 Essential Foods That You Probably Aren’t Eating Enough Of!”
