We’ve all heard the classic rule — “Drink 8 glasses of water per day” — But is that a one size fits all recommendation?  The short answer is no.  Everyone’s body is different, and depending on our diet and activity level, we all need different amounts of water to keep our body functioning at it’s best.

So how much water do you really need?

Think about how much water we use and lose in one day through breathing, perspiration, urination, and bowel movements.  Because we use and lose all of this water during the day, it’s important to replenish our body’s water supply.  The Institute of Medicine suggests that men need about 13 cups (3 liters) of water a day, while women need about 9 cups (2.2 liters) of water a day.

6 Celebrity Scents That Smell Amazing (And Last!)

Please tell me I’m not the only one who struggles with finding a perfume that I really love? 🙂 It’s safe to say that I’ve smelled hundreds and actually “like” around 15-20.  Maybe I’m just a little too picky when it comes to perfumes, but if I’m going to spend money on a fragrance I believe it should 1. Smell amazing and 2. LAST.

A few years ago I received Britney Spears’ Fantasy perfume as a gift and I was pretty blown away with how long it lasted.  I mean, this stuff really lasts – like smell it in my hair the next day lasts!  Since this “celebrity scent” lasted longer than my other high end scents, I wondered, would that be the case with other celebrity scents as well?  From that point forward I made it my small mission to figure this question out, and the short answer that I’ve come with is: For me, usually.

So if you’re looking for a long lasting fragrance and you can get over the somewhat cheesy stigma of wearing a celebrity scent, the six below are all scents that I’ve personally tried and found to be long lasting with a great scent.  Added bonus – celebrity scents are usually cheaper than high end designer scents!

It’s surprising how many college students don’t know about the store discounts that they could be receiving!  Some stores make it obvious that they offer discounts, but others keep it more on the down low.  Most of the time, all you need to do is show a student I.D or sign up with a student e-mail to start receiving your discount.

I’ve always been conscious about what I eat, but about ten years ago I really started to focus on understanding nutrition.  Over the years, I’ve noticed that many people eat foods without knowing much about ingredients or where they come from.  For instance, do you really know what the difference is between saturated fat and unsaturated fat?  What does trans fat mean and why are we told not to eat it? Well kudos to you if you are reading this, because that means that you’re interested in understanding food labels more clearly!  In an effort to make it a bit easier and understandable, I’ve compiled some information that I hope you will find helpful.

Mountain Biking at Balm Boyette Scrub Preserve

We were itching to take the bikes out this past weekend but it was predicted to rain both days. We had actually never ridden in the rain before, so we thought it would be a fun opportunity to play around and get a little dirty at Balm Boyette Scrub Preserve.  It was actually a great time to go because we were literally the only ones on the trails!  The weather was pretty nice at first, just a light drizzle and only mildly hot.  Eventually the rain started to come down pretty hard and we got rained out, but I was still able to get some pics and show you guys what the trails look like.
