What actually causes lymphoma? We don’t always k What actually causes lymphoma?
We don’t always know why a certain person develops a certain type of cancer, but we do know factors that can increase the risk for developing certain cancers.

👀 This is why awareness is key, since some factors are things we can avoid to lower our risk.

🗣️ Here’s what you should know:

• Autoimmune Diseases & Chronic Inflammation
→ Ongoing immune activation can raise your risk
→ Examples: Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Celiac, Sjogren’s
⚠️ Chronic immune stimulation = higher risk

• Environmental Toxins
→ Long-term exposure to certain chemicals
→ Examples: Weed killer (glyphosate), pesticides, benzene, old-school hair dye
☠️ Carcinogens you may not realize you’re exposed to

• Chronic Infections
→ Some bugs don’t go away and can trigger abnormal cell growth
→ Examples: EBV, H. pylori, Hep C, HTLV-1, Herpes viruses
🦠 Infections linked to lymphocyte activation

• Immunodeficiency
→ A weak immune system can’t fight off abnormal cells
→ Examples: HIV/AIDS, organ transplant, long-term immunosuppressants
🛡️ Low defense = higher risk

• Genetics
→ A family history of lymphoma increases your odds
🧬 First-degree relatives = increased risk

• Radiation Exposure
→ Prior treatment or occupational exposure
☢️ Radiation = DNA damage = cancer risk

• Age & Gender
→ Risk increases with age and is slightly higher in men
🎂 Getting older = higher risk

Thyroid Cancer Facts:

🔹 Can occur in all ages

🔹 More common in females

🔹 Often presents as a painless neck mass or is found incidentally

🔹 May spread to nearby lymph nodes (regional metastasis) or to other areas of the body (distant metastasis)

🔹 Tends to be more aggressive in people under 30 and over 55

🔎 Symptoms can include:
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Voice changes or hoarseness
