School and work keep us pretty busy during most of the year, but luckily we are fortunate enough to have the ability to travel during my breaks. We like to use the time off exploring new places, so for a quick Labor day getaway we decided to take a cruise to Cozumel, a place neither of us had been before.
I am going to be honest and say that I don’t consider myself to be a huge fan of cruises, but it’s possible that I just haven’t found the right one yet. 🙂 Nevertheless, a cruise can be a relaxing and convenient way to get away for a while. It was definitely nice to explore Cozumel without worrying about flight delays and luggage issues!
It was great to feel the ocean breeze during the day, and it was so peaceful and calm out on the open sea. The ship only got rocky a few times during the night when we went through some storms.
The ship had a lot of activities to keep passengers entertained, including put put golf and a running track on the upper deck. I loved running on the track early in the morning; it’s not every day that you get to run in the middle of the ocean!
After arriving at Cozumel, we left the port area and made our way down to the shopping district to explore the local shops and restaurants.
Most of the shopping areas were pretty “touristy” with lots of gift shops selling sombreros and random souvenirs, but we came across a cute little restaurant called Mr. Chile, which had amazingly fresh margaritas.
The swings at the bar were so fun and a great addition to the island atmosphere!
We shared a margarita and had a fun time talking with the locals before leaving to explore the city some more.
A quick selfie during our walk through the city. 🙂
I’m a sucker for animals, so when we came across these parrots I couldn’t resist stopping to play with them and hold them!
After walking around town we headed out to Paradise Beach, which has a large pool area that was a nice relaxing place to lounge for the rest of the day.
We spent some time by the pool and had a late lunch overlooking the ocean before heading back to our ship. Our quick getaway was just long enough for us to enjoy, since we both tend to get a little bored if we’re lounging for too long!
What are your top island vacation spots? I’d love to hear about your favorites!
Until next time!
